The Animatrix is a 2003 animated anthology put out by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, made by the people behind the Matrix films. It gathers eight short pieces, each directed by a different anime filmmaker, and mixes computer graphics with Japanese animation. The stories fill in how the Matrix world came about and how people and machines ended up at war.
